Very Good Girls tells the tale of two girls on a mission to lose their virginity before summer ends and college begins.

Firstly, after and during watching Very Good Girls, nothing really stuck out to me. The story was average, along with the cinematography and acting. It was a very much enjoyable movie however.

The Fanning sisters are amongst my favourite actresses and Dakota Fanning didn't move me away from that view. She was once again captivating and her innocence in terms of her aesthetic and aura, were hugely well placed in her role of the, supposedly, less experienced girl.
Seeing Elizabeth Olsen acting for the first time was also interesting. I feel like she had great potential however she was very misplaced in this film. Being 25 and playing a 18? year old wasn't exactly a good fit, she much more suited a more mature character, needless to say her acting was well done.

As a whole, the film was beautifully produced. The beach setting was complimented by the summer night atmosphere created and use of both pastel and bright colours. The characters clothing also played a huge part and fit in well with the surroundings and kind of persona that they held. With a beautiful soundtrack, peaceful narrative and hazey cinematography, the film flowed perfectly like wind on a summers evening in the middle of August.

The story-line was pretty generic with some twists. We see both girls fawning over the same guy and essentially both needing him as much as the other. When situations occur with the girls fathers and lives we see how different the need and comfort of friendship is compared to that of love, whilst also seeing what one will do for love or friendship. We see the comparison of love and lust and we see the different ways of lives people live.

Overall, I really enjoyed watching Very Good Girls, it made me feel like a young teenager again, all angsty for a summer romance and a life in America. At times the film dragged but generally it was a well meaning film with interesting perspectives on things.

If you're feeling nostalgic for your youth, in your youth or want to feel like you'll probably never find true love, ever, this is a film for you.
