New Girl follows Jessica Day (Deschanel) as she moves into an LA loft after discovering that her boyfriend of seven years has cheated on her. We see the quirky 20 something as she adapts to her new life living with 3 single men, with the help of her model best friend CeCe (Simone).

What I like most about the show is the characters. I love the relationship and dynamics between their little friendship group, it's not dissimilar to that of Friends. I feel as though whilst the characters are quite alike, they each have their own distinctive personality and role. Although their lifestyle isn't too relatable and their characters are slightly overplayed and eccentric, you still manage to find them relatable and can see a bit of yourself or someone you know in each character.

The storyline is another thing that makes me always come back to the show. I generally find the individual stories of each episode irrelevant and focus more on the ongoing story such as the romance between the characters, their careers and general life issues. You get quite invested in these characters and I think that factor added with obvious comedy is what makes the show work so well and enjoyable.

(same Jess, same).

Something that I find that always stands out to me and I feel actually plays a huge factor in the character development, is the loft that they live in. It's the kind of apartment most people have dreamt of living in. The loft shows a huge part of their personality and adds to the kind of quirky vibe this show gives off.

The show as a whole is very witty and entertaining. They use more adult and mature humour whilst managing to play it down to a level that seems natural. At times they use a fair bit of slapstick humour, which I feel is just part of the character's personality but it doesn't really add anything to the show and I feel only works with certain characters such as Schmidt (Greenfield).

Overall, this is a great sitcom. An easy watch and although the later seasons get a bit laggy in content, it does get better again even later on. It's interesting to watch the characters grow and develop whilst also having a laugh along the way. Perfect television to watch with friends/partners.
