Friends from College, is the latest Netflix original focusing on the lives of 6 college friends as they reunite in New York City and enter their 40's whilst trying to balance relationships, kids, affairs, work and their own deluded minds.

In a world where Billy Eichner plays the most level-headed character, Friends from College proves to be one of Netflix's worst original shows to date. With a choice between a man who has been cheating on his wife for 20 years, who can never be caught actually working on his writing job thus leaving his wife to work a job she hates whilst they live on their friends couch, a wife who hasn't noticed that her husband has been cheating on her with one of her closest friends for so many years and a woman who has no issue with risking the happiness of her children to be with a man who is not her husband whilst simultaneously being able to appear completely inconspicuous around said friend makes it impossible to find a likeable character.

Not only do their horrendous life choices make this show a struggle to watch but you then have to suffer through watching their over-privileged Harvard graduate personalities breeze through life in New York City whilst barely working to only partake in obnoxious activities such as hiring a party bus to keep their well and truly dead friendship alive.

If you're old and wealthy enough to be able to make the decision to go down the path of IVF then you should be mature enough to understand that not all friendships are meant to last so maybe channel all that energy into your career, family, relationship or self.

With six main characters, there are multiple subplots to keep track of but the only decent one to make an impact was the IVF journey of main couple Ethan (Keegan-Michael Key) and Lisa (Cobie Smulders) and subsequently the drain that put on the couples relationship and her depression when the IVF failed. With the such a strong taboo topic, the writers could have made a real impact to viewers about the struggles of IVF but also helped make other women feel like they're understood. A more mature direction like this would have elevated it to something great that it could have been.

While the intention from the writers may have been to explore themes of holding on to relationships and friendships, the real lesson was to learn from these characters mistakes. Moving on and leaving toxic people behind is a great feeling and this show is the perfect example of that. Making friends as an adult may be hard but holding on to non-serving relationships is even worse.

Friends from College held great expectations with the star studded comedic cast hired but fell flat with the bad acting that was offered. Key's acting was eccentric in a role that really didn't need to be; had he had been more subtle and had more faith in his dramatic acting abilities, Friends from College may just have been a better watch. Cobie Smulders put on her usual dull and whiny character but managed to somehow be the most relatable and honest character in the group.

If you watch the Netflix series with the mindset that it's all satire than it can actually make for a interesting view but unfortunately it seems as though they really mean all they say. The show may not be so bad you can't get through it but its not something I would recommend wasting your time on, even if the first season is only 4 hours long.
